A New Legend in the Making: MAXHOSA AFRICA Shines at Decorex Cape Town 2024

Experience the Fusion of African Heritage and Luxury at Decorex Cape Town

Prepare to be dazzled by the legendary South African fashion and lifestyle brand, MAXHOSA AFRICA, as they showcase their latest ranges at Decorex Cape Town. Fresh from a successful presentation at Paris Fashion Week in March 2024, MAXHOSA AFRICA is set to transform the CTICC with their distinctive use of pattern and bold colour palettes.

Founded by the visionary Laduma Ngxokolo, MAXHOSA AFRICA is renowned for translating the beauty, culture, language, and aspirations of African people into luxurious fashion and lifestyle products. For over 13 years, the brand has been a beacon of African heritage and contemporary design, earning numerous accolades worldwide. Yet, for Ngxokolo, it’s not the awards that drive him but the conviction to celebrate African culture through his designs. “Accolades don’t mean much to me if I am not truly living and progressing my conviction. It is the greatest source of purpose that makes me feel alive,” he says.

VIP Lounge: A Sanctuary of Style

Trade guests are invited to the VIP lounge, where MAXHOSA AFRICA will curate their newest lifestyle range of locally made woven rugs and cushions. This exclusive space offers a serene retreat amid the hustle and bustle of the fair and is a testament to the brand’s dedication to creating sophisticated and culturally rich environments. While primarily for architecture, interior design, and decor professionals, the VIP lounge is accessible to the public and promises an inspiring experience.

From Fashion to Homeware: A Local Success Story

MAXHOSA AFRICA’s journey from a fashion label to a comprehensive lifestyle brand is a true South African success story. Founded in 2010, the brand originally aimed to create modern knitwear inspired by traditional Xhosa beadwork for amakrwala (Xhosa initiates). Ngxokolo’s vision of celebrating traditional Xhosa aesthetics through premium knitwear has since evolved, capturing the hearts of global fashion markets and expanding into standout homeware solutions.

Since I started my journey into the fashion industry in 2011, my ultimate objective was to establish a luxury institution that showcases the culture, greatness, and beauty of the African continent. It gives me a great sense of fulfilment to realise that we are only in the beginning stages of our conviction.
